About Me

For the last 15 years, I have been known as the “travel expert”. I started my travels with a rule “never travel to the same place twice.”

Friends and co-workers contact me regularly asking “Where should I go? How do I get there? Is it safe?”

For the first 37 years of my life, I lived in the same place, within a 20 minute radius. I regularly fantasized about what it would be like to live in Florida, Barbados or the Virgin Islands. I secretly spent HOURS researching the hell out of any place that offered tropical weather and a beautiful beach.

In early 2018, I finally began the preparation stages to move 6 hours away, to another state. While working on this transition, I was sitting in my office one day, and I found a Facebook group for people who work online.

This day forever changed my life! I suddenly realized my opportunities were limitless. I could live anywhere in the world and continue to do the job I loved so much.

In July 2018, I began the early stages of researching what it would look like to live abroad.  And when I say “research”, I mean studied the hell out of it. I spent six months traveling to determine my next new “home”. I also had to test the internet to make sure I would be able to maintain my business.

Between January and May 2019, shit hit the fan. I was frantically trying to balance work and leaving pretty much everything and everyone I knew.  It’s stressful selling everything you have ever owned and leaving not only the US, but the only city you have ever known.

My official move to Isla Mujeres, Mexico was in May 2019. In my earlier travel days when I followed my rule “never go to the same place twice”, that all changed when I discovered Isla Mujeres. After one trip, this magical little place stole my heart.

The acclimation period hasn’t been easy! There are daily challenges.

  • Language barriers
  • Electricity problems
  • Not having access to money because I didn’t learn everything about accessing it
  • Learning to adjust to nonstop heat
  • Knowing who you can and cannot trust
  • Figuring out where specific items are sold
  • Living without your favorite kitchen ingredients or favorite drinks
  • The salt eats everything!
  • More language barriers
  • Truly immersing oneself in the culture

Sometimes I have to really take a step back and remember where I am and that it’s going to be okay.

My background is in mental health. This is my means of financial support to live abroad. Since my move, so many people have reached out to me.  Either to ask questions or simply to share I am their hero and they hope they can be as brave as me someday. I think everyone can have their dream life.

I was sitting on the beach one day after the move, and a thought came to me. I have always pushed people to think “outside the box.” As I was sitting there, I said to myself, “Holy shit, I am LIVING outside the box.”

This was the first step to getting me to where I am today. I have developed a passion for helping others gain courage and learn to live outside the social norms known as “The American Dream.”

What do you want out of your life?
